US embassy cable - 05LJUBLJANA448

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (C) Econoff delivered reftel points 1 July to Bostjan
Jerman of the MFA's Division for Security Policy. Jerman
noted that he was unaware of the reftel Executive Order
announcement, but said he would "immediately" pass the entity
names to the Ministry of the Economy and Slovene
intelligence. Jerman commented that while the entity names
from North Korea and Syria were "not likely active" in
Slovenia, he said that the Iranian names were "interesting."
Noting that Slovenian companies do some business with Iran,
Jerman said he would ensure the information is passed along
and would follow up with Econoff no later than 7 July.
Jerman noted that while it might be "difficult to track"
whether Slovene companies were doing business with companies
associated with those on the reftel list, he committed to
ensuring that "all databases" were checked.
