UNCLAS BRATISLAVA 000498 SIPDIS DEPARTMENT FOR EB/CIF: FINTON DEPT PLEASE PASS TO USTR MCHALE, NEUREITER E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ECPS, ETRD, EU, LO SUBJECT: SLOVAK LICENSING CONDITIONS IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS REF: STATE 114687 Per reftel, Econoff posed questions to Anton Smitka, Director General of the Post and Telecommunications Division of the Ministry of Transport. Smitka stated that, according to Slovak law, license charges cannot exceed the essential administrative costs to the Ministry. The charges may include costs associated with international cooperation and harmonization, market analysis, and the monitoring and control of fulfillment conditions and other controls over the market. Smitka added that Slovakia does not impose any capitalization or bonding requirements. THAYER NNNN
