ROBERTS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: TBIO, PA, UNESCO, KSCI SUBJECT: PARAGUAY SUPPORTS U.S. POSITION ON UNESCO BIOETHICS DECLARATION REF: STATE 109242 Econoff delivered reftel demarche on July 16 to Julio Cesar Peralta, MFAs Director of International Organizations. Peralta said that Paraguay was in complete agreement about the need for any bioethics declaration to include the respect for human life. He also stated that Paraguay was against any declaration that implied a legal obligation on the part of member states. Peralta told Econoff that he had requested Paraguays delegation to consult with the U.S. delegation in Paris as negotiations continue on the declaration. WILLIAMS S
