1. (U) On May 29, Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry
issued Ministerial Resolution 166, lifting the remaining ban
on fresh, chilled and frozen imports of beef and its
derivatives from Washington state to Kuwait (full text in
para 2). The order went into effect on June 12, following
its publication in the official gazette. All U.S. beef may
now be imported into Kuwait.

Ministerial Resolution No. 166 for the Year 2005
The Minister of Commerce and Industry:
Upon reviewing:
- Law No. 43/1964 pertaining to imports.
- Law No. 20/1976 pertaining to the prevention of fraud in
commercial deals and its amendments.
- Decree No. 10/1979 pertaining to supervision of trading and
pricing.
- Ministerial Resolution No. 376/2004 pertaining to the
lifting of the ban on beef imported from the USA except from
Washington state.
- The Food Safety Committee's recommendations from its
meeting No. 7 dated May 8, 2005.
- The Undersecretary's presentation.
- The public interest.
Decided:
Article 1. The ban on imports of fresh, chilled and frozen
beef and its derivatives should be lifted from the entire
United States, including Washington state.
Article 2. Those responsible should enforce this resolution
and work accordingly from its date of issue and publication
in the official gazette. (Note. The resolution appeared in
