(C) Ambassador June 7 delivered Ref A demarche concerning the
June 22 U.S.-EU international conference on Iraq to Foreign
Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Confirming
that he would lead the Bahraini delegation to the conference,
Shaikh Mohammed said that it was important that Europe become
more engaged in Iraq. He stated that Bahrain would continue
to find opportunities to publicly express its support for
Iraq and the Iraqi Transitional Government. He was
interested to hear about the types of assistance other
countries attending the conference, in particular the GCC
countries, might deliver and/or announce in Brussels.
