1. (SBU) Ambassador Watt called Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis
on Friday, May 27, to encourage support for the U.S.
candidate for Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Paolo
G. Carozza. The Foreign Minister informed Ambassador Watt on
Tuesday, May 31, that the GOP would support Carozza.
2. (U) The MFA's Office of International Organizations and
Commissions delivered a diplomatic note to post on May 20
indicating support for OAS Administrative Tribunal candidate
Andre Surena in the elections that will take place during the
OAS General Assembly June 5-7.
