Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS AMMAN 004301 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: KPKO, MASS, MARR, JO SUBJECT: INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN COESPU: JORDAN REF: STATE 87676 1. Acting PolCouns talked with Captain Mohammad Shara, head of the International Cooperation office of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), on May 31 regarding Jordanian participation at the Center for Excellence for Stability Police Units (COESPU) in Italy. Shara said that the PSD was finalizing a list of 30 nominees and 7 backups for proposed training at COESPU, and that he planned to forward this list to the Italian Embassy in Amman next week. 2. Shara added, however, that the cost of sending 30 officers to Italy was prohibitively expensive for the PSD's limited training budget, mentioning that the airfare alone would cost roughly USD 700 per person. While he appreciated U.S. efforts to explore possible assistance to help defray costs, he emphasized that a firm decision on Jordanian participation in COESPU training remained contingent on what funds the U.S. would be able to provide.
