UNCLAS SANTO DOMINGO 002938 SIPDIS DEPARTMENT FOR WHA/OAS, WHA/CAR E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AORC, PREL, DR, OAS SUBJECT: OAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY: COMPOSITION OF DELEGATIONS - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC REF: STATE 075027 1. In response to Embassy's inquiries per reftel, the MFA on May 18 informed us of the principals who will comprise the Dominican Republic's delegation to the OASGA in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, June 5-7. MFA indicated there might be later additions to this list and also promised to provide the delegation's travel itineraries when they become available. The list follows: Carlos Morales Troncoso, Foreign Minister (Secretario de Estado de Relaciones Exteriores) Dr. Alejandra Liriano, Vice Foreign Minister (Sub-Secretaria de Estado de Politica Exterior) Ambassador Luis Manuel Piantini, Special Advisor to the Foreign Minister Luis Bogaert, Special Assistant to the Foreign Minister Ambassador Michelle Cohen, Director of UN-OAS Affairs, Foreign Ministry We will forward travel itineraries and any additional names septel. 2. Embassy in late April provided the logistical information reftel and underscored the importance of the May 1 deadline for hotel reservations. 3. UN-OAS Director Cohen on May 18 reminded us that the OASGA in 2006 is scheduled to be held in Santo Domingo. The Dominican Government, as host, would appreciate the U.S. Government's passing along any lessons learned this year that might be helpful to the Dominicans in the organization and conduct of the 2006 meeting.
