UNCLAS DUBLIN 000618 SIPDIS IO/T (JCOWLEY) E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ETRD, SCUL, UNESCO SUBJECT: IRELAND: UNESCO CONVENTION ON CULTURAL DIVERSITY REF: STATE 89776 On May 18, Emboff delivered reftel points on the U.S. positions on the draft UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity to Department of Foreign Affairs, UN/International Terrorism and Illicit Drugs section, Third Secretary Eoin Duggan. Emboff also confirmed delivery of points to officials at the Department of Trade, Enterprise and Employment and the Department of Arts, Sports, and Tourism (AST). According to AST Assistant Principal Catherine Sisk (Ireland's delegate to the Paris Convention), Ireland has no comments on the reftel demarche, citing only that the EU Presidency will speak on behalf of all Member States.
