SUBJECT: OMAN ADOPTS IAEA'S CODE OF CONDUCT ON THE SAFETY
AND SECURITY OF RADIOACTIVE SOURCES

(SBU) In belated response to ref B, the Sultanate of Oman has
informed the Embassy via diplomatic note dated May 16, 2005,
that it has adopted the International Atomic Energy Agency's
(IAEA) Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of
Radioactive Sources. The note, marked "confidential," states
that the Sultanate's Ministry of Regional Municipalities,
Environment, and Water Resources will be the responsible
authority for matters pertaining to the Code.
