US embassy cable - 05CAIRO3806

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

Embassy's Homeland Security Working Group (HSWG). RSO,
LEGAT, ORA, DEA, CONS, and ECPO attended.

2. (SBU) ECPO briefed the group on post preparations for the
projected May 30-31 visit of Fran Townsend, President Bush's
Homeland Security Advisor. As we move forward with planning,
ECPO is checking on the composition of HSA Townsend's

3. (SBU) DEA briefed HSWG members on plans to hold in
September a training seminar in Cairo for DEA locally engaged
staff from across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. DEA
also briefed the group on a recent successful visit to the
field office of ANGA, DEA's Egyptian counterpart agency, at
Cairo International Airport. The visit strengthened DEA's
relationships with key personnel at this important site.

4. (SBU) The Consul General advised HSWG members on follow
up actions related to a recent submission to the Visas Viper
program and reminded the group to remain alert for
