Edelman, reason 1.4 b/ d. 1. (S) EXBS Adviser delivered reftel talking points/non-paper to MFA Head of Department for Arms Control and Disarmament Osman Yavuzalp the morning of May 17, 2005. Yavuzalp thanked us for the information and informed us that he would immediately pass the information to appropriate government officials. The Ambassador subsequently spoke with MFA Deputy Under Secretary Nabi Sensoy who had not yet heard about EXBS Advisor's demarche. Sensoy said he understood the urgency of the matter and that Ankara would "do what it could." Even if this were not going to Iran, Sensoy continued, Turkey takes nonproliferation seriously and would want to do the right thing. 2.
