(C) The Ambassador delivered reftel demarche April 30 to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Assistant Undersecretary for Coordination and Follow Up Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Sheikh Abdul Aziz said he would pass the message to Foreign Minister/Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, who was departing for the Istanbul conference that night. In a follow up conversation with EmbOff May 4, Sheikh Abdul Aziz noted that Bahrain and the other countries that participated in the Istanbul meeting issued a strong statement of support for the new Iraqi government.
