1. (U) On May 12, 2005, Jose Trinidad and Freddy Ignacio
Velez Rodriguez were extradited from the Dominican Republic
to the United States in the company of a U.S. Marshal.
Trinidad is wanted for sentencing in the Eastern District of
New York, where he pled guilty to fraud involving US $6
million of illegally obtained food stamps, ref A. Velez
Rodriguez is wanted for sentencing in the Eastern District of
New York, where he pled guilty to a federal drug charge, ref
B.
2. (U) Trinidad and Velez Rodriguez were arrested by the
Dominican National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) on
arrest warrants based on USG extradition requests. DNCD was
assisted by DEA agents and the US Marshals.
3. (U) Trinidad and Velez Rodriguez are the 22nd and 23rd
fugitives subject to extradition returned to the United
States during the second administration of President Leonel
Fernandez. They are the ninth and tenth fugitives returned
from the Dominican Republic to the United States in 2005.
