UNCLAS DUBLIN 000537 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: UNSC, UNGA SUBJECT: ICJ ELECTIONS: TOO SOON FOR IRISH SUPPORT REF: STATE 80697 On May 3, per reftel instructions, emboff delivered the diplomatic note stating USG support for Judge Thomas Buergenthal's nomination for reelection as a judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to Department of Foreign Affairs United Nations/International Terrorism and Illicit Drugs Section Third Secretary Eoin Duggan. Duggan said that the GOI would not commit support to a nominee for the ICJ at this time but is aware of Judge Buergenthal's candidacy and supports US presence on the ICJ. KENNY
