C O N F I D E N T I A L AMMAN 003164 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 06/13/2012 TAGS: PREL, JO SUBJECT: PRINCE HASSAN TRAVELING TO US JUNE 16-20 Classified By: AMBASSADOR EDWARD W. GNEHM FOR REASONS 1.5 (B) AND (D) 1. (C) Prince Hassan Bin Talal met with Ambassador Gnehm on June 13 to discuss his upcoming travel to the U.S. The Prince will arrive in New York on June 16 and is tentatively scheduled to participate in a Fox television interview that night. On June 17, Prince Hassan will help launch a joint humanitarian initiative between Islamic countries and the U.S. called "Partners in Humanities". Post is faxing a letter directly to Senator Biden from the Prince inviting him to attend the event. During the rest of his visit, Prince Hassan plans to attend a World Conference on Religion and Peace and has several scheduled media interviews. 2. (C) Prince Hassan has not requested any assistance during his travel to the U.S. Gnehm
