UNCLAS AMMAN 003188 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: KDEM, PREL, JO SUBJECT: COMMUNITY OF DEMOCRACIES: ELECTION STANDARDS INITIATIVE REF: STATE 71941 A/DCM delivered reftel demarche April 20 to Foreign Ministry Secretary General Abdullah Madadha. He said the GOJ would SIPDIS need to study the proposal but believed Jordan would support it in Santiago. He said FM Qasrawi will not be able to attend the Santiago ministerial because of the Iraq neighbors meeting around the same time in Istanbul. However Jordan believed it was important to be represented at the ministerial level, he said; Minister of Culture Asma Khader, who has represented the GOJ at other international events, would likely be sent to Santiago in the FM's place.
