SUBJECT: KING ABDULLAH'S JULY VISIT TO THE US

 1. (C)  Post understands that the Jordanian Embassy in 
Washington has been working  to arrange meetings for King 
Abdullah with the President and other senior officials at the 
end of July.  The Palace and Minister of Planning Bassem 
Awadallah have queried the Ambassador on the status of the 
King's request to see the President.  The King will attend a 
conference in Aspen 29-31 and has a commitment to be in Aspen 
for at least one of those three days, but could potentially 
travel to Washington for meetings on any of those days or 
immediately following the conference. 
 
2. (C) Embassy would appreciate readout on status of the 
King's request for meetings at the White House.
