US embassy cable - 05SANTODOMINGO2118

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

 1. (U) This cable contains and action request. See
paragraph 3.

2. (U) The Dominican National Directorate for Drug Control
(DNCD) informed Embassy-Santo Domingo that fugitive Christian
Toribio, ref A, wanted to stand trial in Kings County, New
York on murder, assault and firearms charges, is deceased.
The DNCD provided a copy of the interment certification
indicating that Toribio was buried in the city of Moca on
June 15, 2001. The interment certificate does not list the
cause of death, however, Toribio would have been 73 on the
date of his burial. Emboff consulted with the Assistant
Attorney General in charge of extradition cases who confirmed
that this document is sufficient to confirm the death of
Toribio.

3. (U) Embassy requests L/LEI to notify DOJ/OIA and the
local prosecutor's office of the death of this fugitive.
Embassy Santo Domingo considers this extradition case closed.
