US embassy cable - 05SANTODOMINGO2110

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

REF: A. 02 STATE 204404

     B. 04 STATE 91852

 1. (U) On April 14, 2005, two fugitives were returned to
the United States in the company of a U.S. Marshal. Fugitive
Mayobanex de Jesus Adames, ref A, is wanted for sentencing in
the United States District Court for the Eastern District of
Pennsylvania on federal narcotics offenses. Elroy Dominguez
(Eloy in the Dominican Republic), ref B, is wanted to stand
trial in the Southern District of New York on federal
narcotics charges.

2. (U) Both fugitives were arrested by the Dominican
National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) on arrest
warrants issued based on USG requests for extradition. Soon
after arrest, both fugitives decided to waive their rights to
extradition hearings and return to the United States. Both
fugitives executed a witnessed, notarized affidavit
indicating their desire to return voluntarily to the United
States to stand trial or be sentenced.

3. (U) The return of Adames and Dominguez represent the
18th and 19th fugitives subject to extradition returned to
the United States during the second administration of
President Leonel Fernandez. They are the fifth and sixth
fugitives returned from the Dominican Republic to the United
States in 2005.
