US embassy cable - 05GUATEMALA915

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: FOLLOW UP ON LIGHTER BAN DEMARCHE

REF: SECSTATE 66181

Post received demarche request on March 9. EconOff
immediately contacted civil aviation authorities to confirm
that they had already been notified of the March 1
announcement through normal TSA channels and that they were
implementing the lighter ban without any problems. Civil
aviation authorities understand USG security concerns and
have no objections, nor do they foresee any problems
regarding continued implementation of the ban.
