Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

C O N F I D E N T I A L ROME 001222 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 04/12/2015 TAGS: PREL, MARR, AF, IT, NATO, AFGHANISTAN SUBJECT: NATO-AFGHANISTAN:ITALY WILL CONSIDER DROPPING CAVEAT REF: STATE 60862 Classified By: Political Minister-Counselor Thomas Countryman for Reaso ns 1.4 (B & D) 1. (C) On April 12, PolMilOff conveyed Reftel points requesting that Italy lift its ISAF caveat to MFA NATO Office Director Giovanni Brauzzi and to MOD Diplomatic Advisor Achille Amerio. Brauzzi, who has the lead on NATO issues, immediately asked the Italian military Joint Operational Command (COI) to review the apparent caveat. Brauzzi's opinion was that the caveat might be merely the result of an oversight and that the COI would probably authorize removing it. SEMBLER NNNN 2005ROME01222 - Classification: CONFIDENTIAL
