(U) On May 27, Poloff conveyed reftel information on the President's May 9 decision to seek the Senate's advice and consent to ratify the U.S.-IAEA Additional Protocol to Ayman Aamiri, Deputy Director of the MFA's Department of International and Regional Organizations. Aamiri said that Jordan -- as one of the countries that have safeguard agreements and Additional Protocols in force -- welcomed the step, and noted the importance of U.S. support for the success of the IAEA's activities.
