C O N F I D E N T I A L ANKARA 001747 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 03/25/2015 TAGS: PREL, PGOV, KG, TU SUBJECT: TURKISH RESPONSE TO EVENTS IN KYRGYZSTAN REF: STATE 54587 (U) Classified by CDA Robert Deutsch, E.O. 12958, reasons 1.4 (b) and (d). 1. (C) Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Bilateral Affairs U/S Uzumcu contacted charge on the morning of March 25 and informed him that the GOT is evacuating Turkish citizen "women and children" from Bishkek. The Turks will send an aircraft to Bishkek this afternoon; ETA is 2030-2100 Bishkek time. Uzumcu asked for information about local airports and their status. 2. (C) Embassy Ankara PolMil section contacted Embassy Bishkek DATT, who informed us the airport and roads leading to it are open as normal and currently appear unlikely to close. We passed this information and reftel points to MFA Central Asia/Caucasus DDG Karslioglu, emphasizing our desire for all governments to support and work through the OSCE. Karslioglu said the Turkish government has not confirmed press reports here that five Turkish citizens were killed in violence in Bishkek. DEUTSCH
