UNCLAS AMMAN 002302 SIPDIS USTR FOR NED SAUMS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ETRD, JO, WTRO SUBJECT: JORDAN'S THANKS ON WTO SUBSIDY ISSUE REF: AMMAN 2040 Samer Tawil, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, called to express Jordan's appreciation for the way the U.S. delegation in Geneva handled the issue of Jordan's request that the WTO agree to an extension of Jordan's tax break for corporate profits earned from exports. Tawil said that the bilateral meetings between the U.S. and Jordanian delegations had been very constructive. He appreciated the chance to explain Jordan's point of view and understood the broader considerations the U.S. delegation had to take into account.
