US embassy cable - 05SANTODOMINGO1558

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (SBU) Embassy officers delivered paras 4-7 reftel as a
non-paper, as well as a Department-provided Spanish
translation of the HCOC text, to MFA UN/OAS division director
Michelle Cohen on March 15.

2. (SBU) She informed us that the Dominican Republic was
considering subscribing to the Hague Code of Conduct Against
Ballistic Missile Proliferation. The MFA had requested an
opinion from the Secretariat of State of the Armed Forces and
was awaiting a response. Cohen anticipated that, once the
opinion had been received, the Dominican Republic would
submit its Note Verbale. We pointed out the desirability of
subscribing before the June 2-3 Fourth Regular Meeting in
Vienna, and she undertook to inform us when the Dominican
Government had made its decision.
