US embassy cable - 05DUBLIN326

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

On March 15, Emboff delivered reftel points to Gavan O'Leary,
First Secretary, Human Rights Unit at the Department of
Foreign Affairs. O'Leary said that before Ireland chooses
its course in deciding whether or not to sponsor the USG
Resolution, it must consult with EU partners. To date,
according to O'Leary, the EU has not formally discussed the
Cuba Resolution. O'Leary said that Eamonn Mac Aodha, Director
of Human Rights Unit is currently in Geneva and meeting with
EU colleagues. An answer may be forthcoming over the next
few days.
