UNCLAS KUWAIT 001075 SIPDIS FOR NEA/ARPI AND S/WCI E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PTER, KAWC, PHUM, PINR, PREL, PGOV, KU, War on Terror SUBJECT: UPDATE ON FORMER GTMO DETAINEE NASSER AL-MUTAIRI REF: STATE 45506 The Government of Kuwait has detained Nasser Al-Mutairi since his January 15 return to Kuwait. His trial opened March 9 and he faced charges of harming Kuwait by working for the interests of a foreign country and those serving it; not obtaining permission to join foreign military forces opposed to another country; and undergoing illegal weapons training. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. His case was adjourned until April 13 when the judge is expected to question him. The judge denied his request for release on bail. LEBARON
