Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS PRAGUE 000354 SIPDIS SENSITIVE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PHUM, EZ, PDEM, UNCHR SUBJECT: CZECH RESPONSE TO DEMARCHE ON PROPOSED CHR TEXT ON THE STATE OF DEMOCRACY REF: SECSTATE 39640 1. (SBU) Poloff spoke with Mr. Jan Kaminek of the Department of Human Rights at the Czech MFA on March 10 regarding the referenced demarche asking for feedback about a planned resolution on the state of democracy and democratic elections in the world. Mr. Kaminek told Poloff candidly that while of course there would be no discussion of whether or not to support such a resolution, unfortunately the Czechs are not currently in a position to sponsor such a resolution. Mr. Kaminek explained that the Czech Human Rights Department and their mission in Geneva is simply too small and overworked at this point. However, he stated firmly that if such a resolution is tabled, the Czechs would certainly support it. CABANISS
