S E C R E T VILNIUS 000244 SIPDIS STATE FOR OIG E.O. 12958: DECL 1.6X TAGS: ASEC, ASIG, HT32 SUBJECT: STATUS OF COMPLIANCE - SECURITY OVERSIGHT INSPECTION OF EMBASSY VILNIUS, LITHUANIA (SIO/I-00-29) REF: STATE 037341 1 (U) Classified by RSO Brent A. Barker. REASON 1.5 (G). 2. (U) The status of open OIG recommendations are: (U) Recommendation #2: The Embassy has purchased and taken possession of the former Kazakhstan Embassy building. This building is on the Embassy compound. OBO will renovate the building. Post is waiting for final OBO funding authorization for work to start on the renovation project. We expect construction to commence this summer, but the completion date will depend on whether OBO fully funds the project. (SBU) Recommendation #3: Recommendation closed. The Embassy purchased a new CMR that meets physical security standards. Renovation of the new residence is complete, and the Ambassador has moved to the new residence. (S) Recommendation #7: The Embassy building will undergo an OBO renovation that includes replacement of the Communications Center door. Post is awaiting OBO funding for the project. MULL
