US embassy cable - 05LJUBLJANA157

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (U) Pol-Miloff delivered reftel talking points and
background information on 17 February to MFA Head of
Department for North America and Latin America Vojislav Suc
and U.S. Desk Officer Amela Kentric. Kentric replied on 8
March with the following information: Slovenia did not
provide any bilateral aid to the Andean region during
2000-2004. Multilaterally, Slovenia did not make any
contributions specifically focused on the Andean region.
Slovenia is a member of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Slovenia contributes funds to the region through EU
mechanisms, with specific programs and projects financed
through ECHO and ALA (Asia & Latin America). Kentric said
further data is available at the European Commission homepage
(AIDCO). She said Slovenia does not offer specific input at
ALA meetings, but rather that Slovenia "supports main
priorities." For any follow-up questions, she offered
contact information for a colleague at the MFA Division for
International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian
Assistance, Tone Kajzer (email: tone.kajzer@gov.si; phone:
386-1-478-2185).
