Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS BUCHAREST 000544 SIPDIS DEPT FOR EUR/NCE - WILLIAM SILKWORTH E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PHUM, PREL RO SUBJECT: ROMANIA: ROMANIA RESPONSE TO CSW DECLARATION DEMARCHE REF: STATE 35769 1. Poloff discussed USG position March 2 regarding the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 2005 with MFA OSCE and Human Rights Directorate Officer Nicoleta Birladianu March 2. 2. Romania does not have an official opinion on the CSW 2005 Declaration at this time and does not plan to speak during the plenary session. Birladianu noted that abortion is legal in Romania, and the lower house of the Romanian parliament recently approved a draft law on reproductive health which upholds the legality of abortion in Romania. Romania's view on abortion will most likely be reflected in Romania's position with respect to the declaration. Delare
