UNCLAS SANTO DOMINGO 001199 SIPDIS STATE FOR IO/S, IO/T - RICK DRISCOLL GENEVA FOR CHARLES STONECIPHER E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL, AORC, ELAB, DR SUBJECT: DEMARCHE ON URGING FISCAL RESTRAINT IN ILO: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC REF: STATE 033950 The Charge d'Affaires and political officer delivered reftel points, urging support for fiscal restraint on the ILO's proposed budget for 2006-07, to Deputy Foreign Minister Alejandra Liriano on March 2, and left the points as a non-paper in Spanish. The Deputy FM undertook to pass the information to UN/OAS division deputy director Rhadys Abreu de Polanco, who normally attends UN meetings in Geneva or instructs the Dominican ambassador there. There was no immediate substantive reaction to our demarche. MARSHALL
