US embassy cable - 05YEREVAN370

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

(SBU) Post delivered reftel demarche March 3 to Tigran
Samvelian, Counselor in the Department of International
Organizations in the Armenian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. He stated that Armenia abstained from the
vote in the Sixth Committee because Armenia has not
decided its position. He had not seen a text of the
proposed declaration, and Post gave him a copy as
provided in the reftel. Samvelian said that the GOAM
will consider the U.S. position and possibly block
amendments during debate to avoid the necessity of last
minute instructions from Yerevan.
