UNCLAS ROME 000706 SIPDIS DEPARTMENT FOR IO/T (JANE COWLEY) E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: TBIO, KSCA, IT, UNGA SUBJECT: ITALY WILL SUPPORT THE L.27 DECLARATION ON HUMAN CLONING REF: STATE 033944 1. On March 1, SCICOUNS delivered points in reftel to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health, and also to the Prime Minister's office. Counselor Alessandro Busacca, Head of Office I (UN Affairs) of the MFA's Directorate General for Multilateral Political Affairs and Human Rights, responded that Italy will support UNGA approval of the Sixth (Legal) Committee's recommendation for UNGA to adopt Declaration L.27, para 10, which calls upon Member States to prohibit all forms of human cloning.
