C O N F I D E N T I A L SANAA 000433 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 02/28/2015 TAGS: PREL, PARM, PTER, YM, DEMARCHE SUBJECT: DEMARCHE ON SCHROEDER VISIT TO YEMEN DELIVERED TO GERMAN AMBASSADOR REF: SECSTATE 34038 Classified By: DCM Nabeel Khoury for reasons 1.4 b and d. 1. (C) Ambassador met with German Ambassador to Yemen, Frank Marcus Mann, on February 27 to discuss the upcoming visit of German Chancellor Schroeder. The German Ambassador shared the main issues Schroeder will focus on, encouraging continued ROYG CT efforts and supporting democratization efforts. 2. (C) Ambassador passed reftel points, stressing SA/LW trade. Mann promised to raise SA/LW with the MFA in Berlin, and with the Chancellor's Foreign Affairs Advisor when they arrive in Sanaa on March 2. Mann agreed with our point, but made no commitment that Schroeder would raise SA/LW with the ROYG. Krajeski
