Post received a letter dated February 15, 2005 from the Department of Trade Defense of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade notifying the USG of Brazil's intention to open an anti-dumping investigation concerning exports to Brazil of n-Butanol originating from the U.S. and South Africa. An unofficial translation of the text of the letter follows in paragraph 2. Please note request for information in last paragraph. Original will be filed at Post. 2. Start Text. Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Secretariat of Foreign Trade, Department of Trade Defense SIPDIS Brasilia, February 15, 2005 Ambassador, In accordance with paragraph 2 of article 21 of Decree no. 1.602 of 1995, we are notifying you that the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade received a petition from the Elekeiroz S.A. company, requesting that we open an anti-dumping investigation concerning exports to Brazil of n-Butanol originating from the U.S.A. and South Africa, classified under 2905.13.00 of the Common Mercosul Nomenclature - NCM. Please be advised that the petition was duly considered under the terms of art. 19 of Decree no. 1.602 of 1995, and we opened proceedings under MDIC/SECEX-RJ 52100- 013183/2004-31.
