(C) Embassy delivered reftel message concerning the March 2-3 G-8/Arab League conference in Cairo February 21 to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Assistant Undersecretary for Coordination and Follow Up Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. EmbOff and Sheikh Abdul Aziz discussed the postponement of the conference, and Sheikh Abdul Aziz said some countries in the Arab League, Egypt included, were hesitant to address the issue of political reform, particularly in a conference with non-Arab League countries. Post will re-engage on this issue should the conference be re-scheduled. MONROE
