Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

(SBU) SUMMARY: On 02/18/05 Subject GEARAY from Reftel B returned as agreed at the time of the incident on 02/16/05. He provided RA with his UK passport, which was scanned. RA and a security officer from the British High Commission (BHC) interviewed GEAREY. 2. (SBU) On 02/18/05 GEARAY, the Subject from Reftel B returned to AmEmbassy Dar es Salaam with his UK passport. It was examined and the relevant pages were scanned. Passport information is as follows: NAME: GEARAY (vice GEAREY), Khalil Ibrahim Number: 024853142 DPOB: 06FEB52, Dar es Salaam Issued: 21NOV96 Inside the passport were several stamps and visas. One was a visa for India, number TV555375/96, issued 22NOV96. Another was a Haj visa for Saudi Arabia, number 4010079431, issued 29JAN03. 3. (SBU) GEARAY was interviewed by RA and a security officer from the BHC. The security officer reported that an initial assessment of the passport is that it is legitimate. During the interview GEARAY stated that the reason he filmed the Embassy was that he had not been to Tanzania in 40 years, and remembers that the old drive-in movie theater from his childhood was located on site. NOTE: This is correct, and a check of some tourist guides (ex. Lonely Planet) will still show this location as the Dar es Salaam drive-in theater. END NOTE. He further stated that he came to Dar es Salaam for his daughter's wedding, as she just married a Tanzanian. 4. (SBU) Prior to GEARAY's return, the entire contents on the videotape were examined. The footage consisted of a birthday party, a wedding, another birthday party, a trip to the beach and the footage of the Embassy. The footage on the tape corroborates GEARAY's story. The groom in the wedding footage accompanied GEARAY (along with GEARAY's spouse) to the Embassy. The Embassy footage was erased and the tape returned to GEARAY. 5.
