US embassy cable - 05DUBLIN72

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

On January 19, emboff delivered reftel to UN Desk Officer,
Julian Clare. Clare said that Ireland played an active role
in supporting the resolution on Afghanistan adopted by the
Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) last year in its role
of Presidency of the European Union. The GOI will likely
support it again this year, but has not developed a national
position yet. If it does support it again, Clare said that
it would be balanced and highlight the positive
accomplishments of women in Afghanistan this year.
