UNCLAS DUBLIN 000072 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AORC, KWMN, UN, CSW SUBJECT: IRELAND LIKELY TO SUPPORT COMMISSION ON STATUS OF WOMEN REF: STATE 09810 On January 19, emboff delivered reftel to UN Desk Officer, Julian Clare. Clare said that Ireland played an active role in supporting the resolution on Afghanistan adopted by the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) last year in its role of Presidency of the European Union. The GOI will likely support it again this year, but has not developed a national position yet. If it does support it again, Clare said that it would be balanced and highlight the positive accomplishments of women in Afghanistan this year. BENTON
