(SBU) PolEcon chief delivered reftel points on adoption of the 12 counterterrorism conventions and protocols December 27 to MFA Assistant Under Secretary Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Shaikh Abdul Aziz indicated that Bahrain had already adopted seven of the 12 and was committed to adopting the remaining five. He said that the GOB had already started the ball rolling, noting that Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar had briefed the parliamentary committees concerned with foreign affairs on the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation and the Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Fixed Platforms Located on the Continental Shelf just one week earlier.
