Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS ABU DHABI 004543 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PHUM, PREL, TC, UNGA, UNGA/C-3, UN SUBJECT: UAE WILL NOT CHANGE VOTES ON UN HUMAN RIGHTS RESOLUTIONS REF: STATE 259878 Post delivered reftel demarche to the MFA Director of the International Organizations Department, Yacub Al Hosani, on December 8 and to the MFA Deputy Director of the International Organizations Department (in the absence of the director), Ghanim Al Mazroui, on December 14. Al Mazroui told Poloff that, while he would share our position with others at the MFA and with the UAE/UN Mission, current instructions are to vote as they did for the Third Committee vote held in November, when the UAE abstained from the Iran resolution and voted against the Turkmenistan resolution. He recommended that the U.S. PermRep to the UN Mission directly contact his UAE counterpart to request a change in voting. Post also recommends that US/UN coordinate directly with the UAE/UN Mission to try to change the UAEG vote. SISON
