1. (C) The Ambassador discussed Iraq debt and disbursement of
Turkey's pledged financial aid to Iraq (reftels) with MFA U/S
Tuygan November 26. The Ambassador noted that Turkey holds
approximately USD 1.6 billion in Iraqi claims, and that a
public statement of support for the recent Paris Club
decision would be an important demonstration of Turkey's
support for its neighbor. Tuygan said he would review the
issues and contact the Ambassador with a GOT response.
