Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

UNCLAS ABU DHABI 003965 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: AORC, UNGA, UN, TC SUBJECT: 59TH UNGA ELECTIONS: DEMARCHE ON REPASCH CANDIDACY FOR RE-ELECTION TO UN JOINT STAFF PENSION COMMITTEE Ref: State 232089 Post provided reftel information about the candidacy of Mr. Repasch to MFA Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Tareq Ahmad Al Haidan on October 31. Polchief followed up on November 1 with both Al Haidan's office and the MFA's Director for International Organizations, Yacub Al Hosani. Neither MFA contact was prepared to say how the UAEG would vote in November when UNGA holds its election for the UN Joint Staff Pension Committee. With UAE President Zayed's death on November 2, it is unlikely that we will be able to reach anyone at MFA to discuss business. We recommend that USUN New York discuss this issue with the UAE Mission. SISON
