(C) Deputy PolMilCouns passed the draft Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) briefing contained in reftel to Turkish MFA Arms Control and Disarmament Affairs Department Chief Bulent Meric on October 19. Meric welcomed the US decision to highlight the positive actions of Turkey and other countries to end the AQ Khan network's activities in their countries during the October 20-22 NSG Consultative Group meetings in Vienna. He confirmed that the text of the US points on Turkey accurately reflected the government's actions to investigate the ties of two Turkish businessmen to the Khan network. EDELMAN
