Working for over a decade at the Attorney General's 
Department, Ms. Wickremesinghe has represented state and 
semi-government organizations in criminal cases before the 
District and Appellate Courts.  She also has handled writ 
applications, appeals, and revision applications.  She is 
responsible for drafting of contracts on commercial 
matters, international/local commercial arbitrations, 
examining the constitutionality of draft Bills, and 
attending Parliament on constitutional matters when Bills 
are taken up for debate.  Currently Ms. Wickramasinghe is 
heading the committee drafting the Computer Crimes Act, 
which is in the final stage and will soon be taken up for 
debate in the Parliament. Under the able supervision of Ms. 
Wickramasinghe, the protection of data transmitted 
electronically was instituted in the Attorney General's 
Department.  The opportunity to meet with U.S. counterparts 
and acquaint herself with the American protection of IPR, 
and the development of new IPR laws and policies would 
broaden Ms. Wickramasinghe's perspective of issues 
involving IPR and the related fields.
