US embassy cable - 04ABUDHABI1986

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

SUBJECT: UAEG bestows rare honor on the Ambassador

1. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for
Foreign Affairs Shaykh Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan
awarded the Shaykh Zayed Order of Independence, First
Class, to the Ambassador on June 8 for her
accomplishments in strengthening cooperation and
friendship between the U.S. and the UAE. According to
UAEG contacts, the Independence Medal given to the
Ambassador is one of the highest awards, and to the
best of their memory has not been given to any other
Ambassador.

2. While the award specifically recognizes Ambassador
Wahba's personal contribution, it is a signal of the
importance the UAE places on its alliance with the
United States.
