Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

Betts. Reasons 1.4 b and d. 1. (C) PolMilOff and ConOff delivered Reftel demarche along with list of names of MEK detainees claiming ties to Turkey to MFA Iraq Department Head Serra Kileli June 1. Kileli said she would circulate the information to the relevant GOT authorities (MFA Terrorism, Refugee and Immigration Departments and the Ministry of Interior) without editorial comment and seek their views. However, she said that personally, she doubted Turkey would choose to send a team to visit Camp Ashraf based on such sparse and vague information. She added that someone in the GOT might know something about one or more of the individuals or a decision might be made to look into the cases on humanitarian grounds, but she was skeptical. Kileli said she would try to get a definitive answer to us as soon as possible. 2. (U) Baghdad minimize considered. EDELMAN
