Mr. Aazim, who has been with the Central Bank since 1999, has 
worked in the Employees Provident Fund and the Public Debt 
Department.  During his 4-year stint at the Central Bank, he 
has been a member of the team that commissioned a Real Time 
Gross Settlements and Scriptless Securities Settlement System 
in 2003-2004.  This is the first time such a system has been 
implemented in South Asia.  He has served on several Central 
Bank teams -- investigating funds of failed finance 
companies, launching special government bonds etc.  He also 
completed with distinction-- a World Bank and USAID funded 
portfolio management and investment analysis program in 
Colombo and has attended many training programs on debt/fund 
management conducted by international organizations. 
With his strong academic and professional background, Mr. 
Aazim will be a clear choice for more responsible positions 
within the Central Bank. The program on "U.S. Financial 
System" will help him further broaden his knowledge and 
skills in the debt/fund management area.  This would be an 
appropriate opportunity for Mr. Aazim, who has never been to 
the US, to learn and experience the U.S. financial markets, 
monetary issues, macro-economic policy and financial 
regulations.  He would be a vital resource person at the 
Central Bank for the success of the proposed US Treasury's 
technical advisory assistance to the new Debt Management 
project of GSL.
