US embassy cable - 04THEHAGUE1212

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

1. (C) PolOff delivered ref A talking points and excel
spreadsheet to MFA Deputy Head of Gulf States Arnout Wegerif
and Asylum and Migration Affairs advisor Marielle van der
Linden. MFA Point of contact for the Dutch MFA on MEK
detainees is the Head of Asylum and Migration Affairs Joep
Damoiseaux. He can be reached at (31) 70-348-5795. Wegerif
appeared confident that the GoNL will send a team to Camp
Ashraf, but noted that further interagency consultations with
the Ministry of Justice must occur before the GoNL can
determine the size, make-up and travel dates of a Dutch
delegation. Van der Linden opined that the Dutch delegation
will likely consist of Dutch officials serving in either
Baghdad or surrounding capitals such as Amman. Both Wegerif
and van der Linden understood that it is vital for the ICRC
to visit Camp Ashraf as quickly as possible.

2. (C) Wegerif again stated (ref d) that the GoNL would
repatriate its citizens, but noted that resettlement of other
individuals might prove difficult.

3. (U) CPA Baghdad minimize considered.
